May: New USA tariff rules

For the time being, despite no tariffs being charged to US customers upon arrival, it seems that randomly selected packages are being returned to me (and other senders here in Ontario). Maybe that’s USPS’s way of “dealing with the tariffs” for now. I offer to re-send any package that becomes a victim of this random selection.

Update August 25: Shipping to USA is now paused because I won’t be able to ship unless duties are already paid beforehand. However, there’s no easy way to calculate & pay those at the moment. I’ll continue to see what happens in the coming weeks. Thanks for your patience. ♥

  1. Hi can you give an update I really want to buy some. I won’t return it and I want to use it to prank some friends

    1. Hello! I’m waiting to see what’s going to happen with the shipping services in the coming weeks. Maybe there will be a DDP option available eventually.

  2. It’s too bad we find ourselves in this place, but hopefully we will get through this. Happy to say I received my lined paper sticky notes and I see other cool things on your website. But I do understand that you must do what you need to do. Maybe one day I’ll get to order some other cool stuff.

    1. Hi Jamey!
Although there have been some new systems put into place now since the most recent tariff changes, the only way I can now ship to the USA is if the duties are paid upfront. I don’t have any way to calculate this beforehand for customers to see, so I don’t really know any streamlined way to sell my products right now. I think even if I could show the duties upfront, nobody would want to buy, because I believe it could be anywhere from 35% – 60% and then other fees like a brokerage fee, etc. on top if it.

  3. Heya,
Do you think you’ll be back up by Christmas or potentially new years? I have a friends birthday in early January who I think would love your art.

    1. Hello! Thanks for your interest in my shop. 🙂

At this time, I don’t know of any way to avoid the newly added USA duty charges. For many of my products it can be up to 45% extra duty costs because most of my products are made in China (I often have no other choice). The lowest duty product I have would be my USA-made socks.

I haven’t turned on the shipping because I felt that nobody will want to pay the 45% duty costs – but if I’m wrong about that then please let me know and I can think about turning it back on. 🙂

    1. Hi! Are you referring to the Think Twice Dice sets?
Unfortunately the duty charges for the dice would probably be within the 35% – 45% range. At this time I don’t really know a way around that.

If people are still willing to buy from my shop with the big duty costs then I would consider maybe turning the shipping back on, so please let me know your thoughts!

  4. I’m also in the USA, and I’d be willing to pay the duty costs! Was hoping to place an order of $50 or so. Sorry you have to deal with all this complexity!

    1. Thank you! I hate the guilty feeling of knowing some customers might be paying double for my products, when I really strive on creating affordable products that are still made by an “independent designer”, so it feels so counter-intuitive!

But I think I will test out re-opening shipping to USA later today.

I will update this blog + Twitter + Instagram once I do!
